I very much appreciate FEEDBACK! Hummel collectible figurines were born out of postcard art created by a Bavarian nun in 1934. Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel's religious drawings and paintings, mostly of children, were transformed into porcelain figurines by Franz Goebel in 1935.

The figurines were well-liked in Bavaria and across Germany and grew in popularity when American soldiers brought them home after World War II. This collection belongs to a friend who's Aunt worked for the armed services and was stationed in Germany in the 1950's. That this woman would be so brave to be a mid-century modern hard-working woman in a male dominated profession like the ARMY, is something I will be forever grateful to her for. 6 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" wide x 4 1/2 long.
