The Spanish Riding School is well known for its equestrian spectacles. Each figure in the series captures one of the haute ecole (high school) steps and movements. The Spanish Rider Series was comprised of Courbette, Levade with rider, Levade without rider, Pirouette, Piaffe, Trot, In the posts and Capriole.
68 separate parts were used when making Levade. Using techniques that required years of development, all the weight of the horse is on the hind legs and tail. The rider is wearing his parade uniform of red tailcoat with gold epaulettes. On the bottom of the figurine is the "Wien Augarten" porcelain mark. A loss to a section of gold rein is the only condition issue. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
