Antique 1930s Original Rare Large Porcelain stoneware figurine Stallion MEISSEN
Large collectible figurine MEISSEN depicting a thoroughbred stallion, made according to the author's technology of Johann Friedrich Böttger, from porcelain stoneware. Dimensions: height 27.5, length 30, base 23x8.5 cm Condition: generally good collectible condition, there is an old, inconspicuous restoration of the tips of the ears. Interesting fact: Johann Friedrich Böttger is one of the most important pioneers of European porcelain and the founding of the Meissen manufactory. In 1706, two years before the invention of white porcelain, he discovered the dark red material, as he called it, jasper porcelain. In Europe, it was named "Böttger porcelain stoneware" and was first used on the principle of Chinese porcelain production: clays are mixed with quartz and flux and fired at very high temperatures. A few years later, the production of white porcelain supplanted this material, and only in 1919 the management of the manufactory, based on old recipes, resumed production from porcelain stoneware, which has excellent properties: a plastic, hard, refractory material that is resistant to sudden changes in temperature. We will be happy to assist in this.
